I bring a passion for working with professionals from engineers to attorneys to accountants. My clients are really smart, believe in serving their clients with authenticity and are open to new ideas.  With three practicing attorneys in my family, I understand the dynamics and pressures that come with building a successful practice.

My background includes marketing with an emphasis in public relations.  Every client has a unique story to tell  or a perspective about a business issue that a prospective client needs to know.  And reporters, editors and writers need the perspective a professional can bring to a story.

Professionals struggle with building their personal networks, their “social capital’, the powerful connections they need to identify prospective clients and referral sources.  I help clients think about how to make those powerful connections in a strategic way.

Founded in 2006, the firm provides marketing, public relations and communications strategies and implementation to professional services firms.

Direct Marketing Manager – Perceptive Software
In this role, I led a 12 person direct marketing team responsible for inbound/outbound telemarketing and managed over 125 technology tradeshows around the world. Our team was also responsible for providing sales leads to the inside sales representatives.

Marketing Director- RSM McGladrey
As marketing director for the Kansas City Economic Unit, I worked with 55+ professionals in audit, tax and management consulting to create and implement marketing programs, and launched the McGladrey brand in Kansas City following an acquisition by HRB Business Services.  I also provided marketing leadership for a six-state area financial services practice. Additionally I led the Unit’s Women’s Leadership Initiative a program designed to retain high performing women professionals.  The firm’s leaders also asked me to teach CPE courses to firm professionals throughout the Midwest.

Marketing Director – Grant Thornton
In this role, I created and implemented marketing strategies and niche industry plans for the Kansas City location.  At the time, I was the first marketing professional to be named to a national industry team, the Grant Thornton Real Estate Committee, an internal team of firm real estate professionals who were charged with new product development and thought leadership.

Marketing Director – Spencer Fane Britt & Browne
In the late 1980’s I joined Spencer Fane to help focus the firm on a number of marketing initiatives, including creating workshops and seminars to help educate clients on legal topics.  I provided leadership to the first practice group in Kansas City, called Women in Business, which continues to provide legal educational content and networking  opportunities exclusively to women business owners, managers and CEOs.

Marketing Coordinator – Terracon Consultants
After leaving a small consulting engineering practice in West Des Moines, Iowa, I joined Terracon Consultants, a national geotechnical and environmental consulting firm.  As a young marketer, I created marketing materials, professional presentations, responded to RFPs, and positioned professionals as story sources with business and trade publications.

EDUCATION

I attended the University of Iowa, where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications.  I also earned a Master of Science degree in Marketing from Webster University.

AWARDS AND CIVIC INVOLVEMENT

My appreciation for the Kansas City community has led me to serve on a number of boards and committees including The Central Exchange,  Kansas City Direct Marketing Association,  Women’s  Foundation of Kansas City, Johnson County Cancer Society, Mattie Rhodes Counseling and Arts Center,  Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, and the Kansas City Area Development Council - to name a few.

I received a number of awards, including the Community Service Award and National Women’s Leadership Initiatives Committee from RSM McGladrey and the Team Award for Outstanding Excellence from Grant Thornton. I am a graduate of The Central Exchange Women on the Leading Edge, Leadership Lenexa and the FastTrac® New Venture™ program.

You can find me taunting trout while fly fishing or pounding the tennis court in USTA/Ten Cap Tennis leagues.
